Middle housing is coming to Whatcom County! The Whatcom Housing Alliance is thrilled to launch our Middle Housing Design Competition. This event is made possible by a grant from the National Association of Realtors in partnership with Whatcom Association of Realtors.

HOW TO ENTER
Calling all design and construction professionals! The Whatcom Housing Alliance welcomes submissions from all, including interns, licensed architects, and builders practicing in Washington, with preference going to those working in the Bellingham area.
Submissions to the Middle Housing Design Competition must be constructible designs including a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area that meet the site conditions specified in our Competition Guidelines document (Click on image to the right, or here.)
Whether the project is new or already-designed, each submission must include a digital design board, accompanying narrative, and project preview.
All designers must signal their intent to submit by registering by 11:59 PM on August 30, 2024. Registration is required in order to access the submission portal.
All finalized designs must be submitted via the submission portal by 11:59 PM on November 1, 2024. Entry fee is also due at this time ($40 per design)
Submissions are limited to three (3) designs per designer or firm.
Competition Goals
The Middle Housing Design Competition seeks to inspire creativity and contribute to more equitable neighborhoods. It is a platform for architects and designers to showcase their talent and contribute housing challenges in our community.
