Learn more about our Keynote

Ron Davis is a consultant who works in both the public affairs and early-stage startup spaces.

His policy work is focused on building affordable, clean, safe, and healthy communities. He recently partnered with Sightline Institute to help bring together a broad coalition that advanced the Parking Reform and Modernization Act. Ron also serves on the legislative committee of the board at Futurewise, an organization that has supported many of Washington’s major statewide housing reforms—including middle housing, transit-oriented development, and Growth Management Act updates on climate and transportation.

His writing on housing and transportation policy has appeared in national publications like The Atlantic and The Huffington Post, as well as regional outlets such as Sightline, The Urbanist, The Stranger, and Publicola. He has covered a wide range of topics, from comprehensive plan updates and housing benefit districts to parking reform, climate, taxes, homelessness, and public safety.

Ron also authors the “Rondezvous” newsletter (rondezvouswa.com), which covers housing and transportation alongside issues like schools, policing, transit, and community well-being.

In all of his work, Ron is known for helping diverse groups find common ground and practical solutions to improve quality of life in our communities—demonstrated most recently in the successful bipartisan effort to reform parking policy in Washington State.

What's Next in the Fight for Housing

Washington has taken big steps forward on housing through statewide reforms for ADUs, middle housing  and parking reform, and updates to incentive programs like MFTE. But there is much more work to be done to build the affordable, livable neighborhoods of tomorrow. From the next wave of policy frontiers, to the meat and potatoes of implementation—the fight for affordable communities is just getting started.

In this keynote, Ron Davis will explore how communities can move the ball forward on both policy and production. He will outline practical strategies for tacking financing gaps, construction costs, and permitting delays—helping us think about how to move from new laws to new homes.

Whatcom Housing Alliance hosts two Community Summits every year. Previously known as All Members Meetings, this new iteration provides an opportunity to strategize and align on mission and goals and to assess the direction of the organization. Often, keynote speakers are invited to speak on current housing topics. Stakeholders from the private and public sector convene in these meetings to learn, network and innovate. We encourage you and your organization to become a member, in order to attend and enjoy in these opportunities!
