The annual Middle Housing Design Competition is where innovation meets community transformation. The Whatcom Housing Alliance invites our design community to reimagine housing options for all neighborhoods. As the City of Bellingham begins to adopt Middle Housing, the demand for these housing types will require education and inspiration.
With the generous support from the National Association of Realtors, this competition seeks to ignite dialogue about the importance of Middle Housing. We believe that diverse housing options, ranging from townhouses to duplexes, to triplexes and beyond, play a crucial role in enhancing housing affordability.
Through this competition, we aim to showcase the potential of Middle Housing to address the housing shortage not only in Whatcom County. Our vision extends beyond mere shelter – we strive to promote housing diversity and sustainability, enriching the fabric of our city.
